What does “Grato” mean anyway?

The term “Grato” comes from an adaptation of the phrase “Gratitude to the Almighty. This phrase is our brand, driving force and our mission. See more here.

How did it all get started…

Most of my early photographic career was spent photographing events with family and friends. Although I have been fortunate enough to have taken a photography class in high school, it was only until college, that I gained a true appreciation for the art and science of photography.

Starting off with a manual film camera and college classmates, friends and family serving as willing subjects, I began to hone my craft and sharpened my skills. Many long weekends were spent hand-processing rolls of black-and-white film reels in a secluded campus film lab. My then best friend, now husband gifted me my first DSLR over a decade ago and that gift truly revolutionized my practice. Today, our son, is happily practicing his photography with that very camera.

Over the course of my photographic career, I have also undertook personal projects that involved photojournalism, documentary, product and nature photography.

Some of my favorite things…

I consider myself quite simple really. Apart from spending quality time with loved ones… taking pictures of just about every magical thing, golden hour, the scent of bergamot, and comfy socks make me smile.

What does “Grato” even mean?

“Grato” is a term that combines the words “Grato to the Almighty.” This is our brand and this is our mission.
